A man’s walking down an empty street
Running away from fate

Thinkin bout promises he couldn’t keep/
just like his /watch its too late

All he wanted to be a freedom fighter
The kind that set people free

He tried messing with the wrong messenger
Testing the testimony of testing money

REF:
I wonder if I’m another kind
I doubt this ever’s on your mind
A bare reflection of the sky
Still hidden deep within your eye

When you
look into the mirror can you say that you see // The
very same person lookin back at me

Now he’s walking away from trouble
Like he thought it would help
Like it wouldn’t still find him in the rubble
Bust his bubble pretend to be well

Oh you wanted to be a freedom fighter / Like that will ever be
He tried messing with the wrong messenger
Testing the testimony of testing money

Ref.

So he’s sitting down in front of the fire
Like a substitute for his own

Time to leave all that freedom fighter
Talk and caring on

Still the look in his eyes wonder /who’ll be the wiser
He tried messing with the wrong messenger
Testing the testimony of testing money

Ref.

Outro

Freedom Fighter is an homage to people who dare blow the whistle and tell it like it is. Of course, fighting the powers that be will never go unpunished. They will undermine you, look down on you, your competence, your story or whatever they find that sticks. For me personally this experience came from me questioning ideas and leadership in the church-culture that I ended up leaving. They couldn’t give good answers to my questions so they questioned me for asking them instead. I actually thought I’d be able to make some kind of change, but sorry to say I had to count my losses and just get out.
